Yeah but you nailed it on key words "one or more battery-powered emergency lighting units".....unless I am reading it wrong.

So to be sure they get what the engineer wanted.Leaving something like that out is not normal.Yours prints usually spec what light fixtures.

Jim, Brother was asking where the requirement to have a battery backup fixture is, the design documents may (should) show the fixture(s) but, design documents are not necessarily code requirements.
