Can the feeder to a panelboard that supplies branch circuits to patient care areas be installed in RNC.

I almost just said "no" without looking it up. The wording in the 2002 code (517.13(A)) says the branch circuit conductors need to be in a metal raceway.

But I have always assumed this applied to feeders, as well. I think the local AHJ here also expects the feeders in metal conduit.
