Okay, fair enough. A possibility for sure, but a rare occurrance I would assume.

As for me, I have seen either, but experiences vary widely.

I suppose each will do as he/she sees fit.:)

Rare as being struck by lightning but can happen, I now always install ground prong or terminal up.

And I have no argument with your personal reasons for doing so.

But as far as code: Can we agree that neither orientation is mandated and that not enough substantiation has ever been submitted to a CMP to warrant it?

If every "What if" event was covered, The NEC would be a gaziilion pages long.

Clearly not an NEC code requirement but it has been submitted and rejected several times.

Is this thread becoming a ground up / ground down thread or is it my imagination? :)

The top terminal screw shown is likely for the EGC, what are the others for?;)

If every "what if" event was covered the NEC would be pretty simple - you wouldn't be allowed to use electricity:lol:

I thought that myself when I had a pretty thorough response to one of the posts then decided to not submit it. Nothing wrong with a joke here and there about it but getting into serious discussion on this topic is pointless.

One per receptical mounted up or nuetral mounted on top in horizontal position.

Is that better?

Gregg, as Roger just stated, we gotta drop this.

I am as guilty as anyone else for the thread jack, but we gotta stop.

Ground up/down arguing is not allowed, so we need to end this.

Opinions will vary and no answer on this issue will be resolved here
