I have a Hot tub to hook up and my plan was to install the 40amp gfci breaker in the main panel and set a Square D Homeline disco QO200TRCP at the hot tub. My question is after reading the manufacturers user manual it calls for the L1,L2 and N coming into the spa electrical box be connected directly to the gfci. I know that either way the circuit is gfci protected, but can I do it the way I planned or do I need to follow the manual and install a 40amp breaker at the main and then install a 50amp gfci spa pack (readily available from parts house) at the hot tub.
