i have been there and actually "done that"!!! not proud of it --you know why----thinking back---------there was no absolute reason to do it -- we had a 600 amp breaker that had to be tied to a 4000 amp switchgear bus. yes it was an emergency bus!! so what!!! i did it myself!!! dumb!!

the bigest thing to explain --- if something goes wrong -- whats the end result --- major down time --- oh ya ---then the funeral!!! and the osha inspectors --- attorney investigations ---- job changes.............

follow the law and your covered...........................

I could understand if your ship was sinking or if interruption would cause other harm, say life support in a hospital. But then, who designed it that way?

Why don't you ask your "managers" to turn the screws themselves? You can point and stand back.

I just saw a movie about Chernobyl on the History channel where the arrogant & ambitious head commie browbeat his underlings into violating safety protocol after safety protocol. The headman lived another ten years, if you can call it living, as did but a couple of his underlings who argued with him before relenting.
