i have a hotsprings vanguard hottub. This spa is weird as it came with a disconnect box with 2 double pole gfcis one 30 amp for the heater and another double pole 20 amp for the bubbles pump. The 20 amp gfci uses 3 wires from gfci, neutral wire for the 110v circuits the control panel and lights im guessing. I dont have this disconnect box as the spa was used when it came to me. What im trying to do is use a 50 amp gfci double pole breaker in my main panel feeding to a disconnect box with a 20 amp regular breaker and a 30 amp regular breaker. It is my understanding that in doing this it will gfci protect the complete setup and be quite cheaper than the 2 double pole gfci breakers. Now my question is this, my main panel is an old cuttler hammer and it doesnt have seperate grounds and neutrals. its all on the same bar as far as i can see it only has one bar. So would the gfci pig tail wire go to this bar? Which is also the grounding of everything. and by everything this is also where the spa will be grounded? also where do i get my neutral for the 110v service to spa? Do i run it from this load spot above the white wire where it is on the gfci breaker in main panel? so it would run straight from the gfci breaker to the spa bypassing the disconnect box with the 2 non gfci double pole 20 and 30 amp breakers. Would this be safe? Would this work? I think in theory this will work but, I dont want my family and friends safety to be based on my unknowledged theory. Sorry if my grammer and punctuation isn't good. Any help in this dilemma would be very much appreciated.
