No ,this was a tax deduction that could only be taken in the year you purchased the vehicle it allowed to take the entire cost in one year instead of having to spread it out over 5-7 years so if the vehicle cost 50K you could take a $50,000 deduction in one year to offset income instead of $10,000 a year for 5 years the benefit of this was to encourage big ticket purchases and if you had profit you did not want taxed it was good but it was only in the year purchased so the following year you had no deduction for this vehicle.

I miss that dod.... I mean er, um, valuable economic stimulus package. Think back to the years when it was around Rewire. Google was going on the market for $81 dollars, Apple was $54. Your gross profit for that one year redirected away from taxes and invested properly and you would be missing it also and you could have paid for the hummer in one sweep

Just a thought gentleman so don't get on your soap boxes. I work for a factory but i do hold an electricians license and supplement my income that way; however i don't understand all the ins and outs of business management, which is why i plan on adding one to my staff of 1 this summer. Now that being said does that make me a hack, or someone with half a brain for planning the epansion of my company? All comments welcome!

You're not a hack unless you do hack work, just make sure you charge enough for the work you do.

These are always things you have to deal with. Most guys are working on more than one job at a time anyway so what if one of them is a full time gig at a plant.

The problem we have seen is a customer would call us, the guy that did our service upgrade, can not come and we need someone now, turned out the main breaker lugs were loose, and burned, he was at the plant and could not leave his shift, and this is not a rare thing to see, so that is why i asked if he was able to leave his job, should the need arise, some guys that work at plants have another EC answer there emergency calls, and it may be in his state, they do not require the jobs to be supervised. In my opinion, Electrical Contracting is not a hobby, or something worked on a part time basis, it usually, requires your full time attention.
When you hire someone this summer it will give you someone to answer the emergency calls.
