This is the kind of weather that can really make you stay home from work. I choose not to work in this cold weather anymore, but when I worked for someone else I had to go to work. One time we were installing sealtite for A/C and it was so cold that the outer nonmetallic layer was cracking right off. The buildings we were working in were not heated either. I met a worker on the job during the cold - we were always bundled. By the spring when we needed less clothes, it looked like he had lost 150 pounds because he was wearing so much clothing. Without a thermos to keep a warm drink, it would have been tough to work.

This week was colder than any of those days, -6 degrees and a windchill of -35 degrees... how do you stay warm?

Might be why we haven't heard from Bob lately. It's probably about the same in Mass. Even single digit temps are rare here in central NC. I can't imagine working in conditions like you describe.

that warm drink gets a few extra drops of Bailey's in it!!!
Which actually lowers your body temperature even more, but you don't feel it.

I stayed warm by putting NY in my rear view mirror :D

(I bugged out about 24 hours before the real deep freeze hit)

Re: How About This Cold Weather

I spent a lot of my time this week adding / fixing electric heating units and installing heat trace wiring.

I was on a flat roof on Thursday windchill -20 F, it was not fun, luckily I was only out there about 1 hour.

Friday My parking space was on a river separating NH from ME, my work was inside but trips to the truck where tough.

A temp of 0 F or below along with strong winds, could not imagine trying to stay out there to long.

Brrrrrrrrrr.
