Hello:
I am brand new to membership in the forum but have been reading it for years.I am installing a 40Kw single phase non-separately derived generator about 100' from a residence. The residence has already installed two 200A transfer switches, two 200 A service entrance breakers and two 200 A Panels. The neutrals are all tied together in the ATS's. I plan on running three 4/0 AL conductors, L1, L2, and neutral from the circuit breaker on the generator and a number 6 bare equipment bonding wire connected to ground rods at the generator and bonded at the generator frame to the ground terminal in one of the ATS's. These 4 wires will enter the house very close, 3' from the ATS's. I am trying to figure out the best way to split these 4/0 cables so I have a set for each ATS. I am assuming a junction box is needed and all wires could enter and exit the box on the same side with no bending required if the right kind of connectors are used. I have not had the occasion to splice or tap these size wires in a box before and I am asking for advice on how best to accomplish this. There is not enough room in the ATS's to install anything that would accomplish this purpose.
