How did you become an inspector?

Are you saying that there were no problems with drugs, lack of ethics, and math skills 20 years ago?

I currently teach 3rd and 4th year apprentices and have some very bright and hard working students in my classes. There are also the occasional slackers, but I don't see any difference from when I went through the program 18 years ago.

In response, I went through my apprenticeship from 1967-1971 and the times were MUCH different then. You HAD to be a HS grad (no GED's) and you HAD to pass a math and verbal proficiency test along with an aptitude test to even be considered.

Yes, I certainly had some good kids in my class, but much like the educational system today, the 10-15% who don't want to learn/participate screw it up for the rest.
