Are you free king crazy???
If you charge a minimun 2 hours & they only want a switch replaced do it & MOVE on. Don't be stupid. So they say..." I Have you paid for for two hours, and at your rates can you vacuum the carpet & wash the windows with your tall ladder?" How about hanging a towel rack or mowing the back yard or trimming a branch off the oak tree with the tall ladder on your truck?

HeY Trust me... they are not going to remember you in two years. If they need an EC they will go looking the same place they found you the first time. I keep records, & so many times I get repeat customers from my ads only. Not because they remember calling me a year ago. When I tell them I have been there before they are surprised but don't care!!
My advice is take all the money now, either they or you may not be around in a year.

Drive it like you stole it.... Charge them like you will never ever see them again.

OH,i do,,i dont push it,,there no-one that wants to move on and come home more than me,,
90% of the time its all they got,,is that switch,,
all i do is ask them if theres anything else,,i dont push the 2 hrs. thing.

Difficult!

Difficult!

There are so many 'handy men' running around doing the small electrical jobs. And they work for cheap. WE know how valuable our work is but the average homeowner ONLY looks at the price$

isn't anyone familiar with flat rate for these small service calls. you can take a $150 service call and turn it into a $500 call easily. in the process you make more money and, this is the key, if done right, happier customers.

i was taught a long time ago, "the customer pays for everything" anything we need as a business, anything we want personally, we have to pay for it. the only place we can get the money we need, is from the customer.

one of the posts talked about suggesting extra work (outets, gfi's, etc) that's the key. show the people what they need but didn't even know they wanted it. Ms. Smith, i noticed you have this beautiful light in your foyer, but you don't have a dimmer switch. are you familiar with them?

we only make money when we are in a customers house, why do we want to drive to 7 houses for min fees, when we can make more money in 1 or 2 stops with less cost involved?

guys look at the plumbers anf hvac contractors in your area that specialize in residential service, how many are still in a truck running calls?
