How do you deal with unspooled cuts of cable?

Okay,

So this might be a noob question but I'm so sick of spaghetti cable I'll take the hit.

I don't do a huge amount of volume so whenever we need to do a sub panel etc we buy the wire from our distributor by the foot. So often I have several unspooled lengths of 2awg etc that I need to pull. We don't always have enough room to uncoil them and pull, which works okay if you have space. Is there something I am missing? Does anybody have a way to spool these cut bundles so you can pull cleanly and efficiently? There's got to be a trick I don't know about.

Pick up an empty spool and wind the cuts onto it.

That's not a "trick" that's just "common sense" and I'm not even sure that allowed these days.

My wire distributor spools cut lengths onto spools for us at no charge.

Hand coils work for small projects. Spools as suggested for larger ones.

I think I saw a trick where a cable (or hose??) was coiled _inside_ of a shallow bucket. The bucket was on a turntable and could spin to uncoil the cable.
