How long will CA use 2008 for exam?

I have permission to expense a code book. Was wondering if anyone knew how much longer the journeyman's exam would be based on the 08 edition? Also would I find the handbook to be better for purpose of studying?

Check out Mike Holt's site and you will see that as of Jan 1, 2014 CA is on their 2013 Electrical Code, which is based on NEC 2011.
My guess is that the exam is also based on [2011].

It depends.

I would contact the exam schools. The contractor exam will not necessarily be the same as the General Electricians. I doub't that they are on the 2013 CEC yet.

So I was able to find an answer by contacting a training school. Looks as though I will buy an 08. Whats the selling point of anything newer?

Also I see Mr. Holt has an abundant variety of study guides and packages. Some very pricey! More knowledge and a thorough understanding are of course priceless... but what do I NEED?

Just that it is what the inspector will evaluate your work against, regardless of what you were taught in the school (and maybe needed to use for the test.)
