My wife and I do a lot of of hotel stays and hard wired data jacks are becoming less and less common. WiFi seems to be winning over and I would say. Hal nailed the reasons. Fewer lap top travelers and many more tablet and phone travelers.

Any decent laptop will have wifi if needed but no tablets or smart phones I know have ethernet connections.

And many laptops are missing ethernet jacks now...I have to carry a USB dongle to make hardwire connections.

The resort where my family stays once a year has hardwire and WiFi. I find the hardwire performs better when I have to VPN into the work network and access a computer at the office...no surprise there.

Almost anywhere else I stay, WiFi is all that's available.

Thank you all for your replies.

Just to plan for future I installed 2 coax and two CAT 6 in each location.

Ironically they decided against hardwired wall and ceiling speakers. They will go wireless speakers which IMO is a bad idea.
