I am installing a new modular meter bank on an apartment building. I will have ten meters with 100 amp tenant mains for each meter. Do you think I can put a 400 amp fusible main disconnect, or do I need 600 amp?

Need some details on the apartment loads but my *guess* is a 400 works fine. I once did a 25 meter gang pack with a 1000 amp main and it's been in service many years, no issues. Each meter main was 125 amps. The apartments had gas heat and were quite small, less than 600 sf. Partially subsidized housing for senior citizens.

Single phase or three phase service?

Ten dwellings plus a public area meter?

Is there an elevator? Air conditioning? Electric heat? Electric dryers? Electric water heaters?

I doubt that 400 amps would meet NEC requirements.
