How many outlets are allowed on a 240V branch circuit?

No such rule exists. At the very least, we would need more information, in order to understand what the question is seeking. For example, what type of outlets are you talking about? Where did you get the question?

As Far the NEC say about the 240 volt repectales there is not much.
But some area have spefic requriement other wise really almost the same as convetnal 120 v repectale circuits is but really it pretty much depending on what you are planning to use it.
Is this being used in the Resdetnail garage or commercal location ?? [ it can change a bit someway.,,]
