Yes in most cases, that doesn't mean that you won't have to Sit for there test as well.

I should have Mcgraws 2005 Electrical Handbook show up any day now. I'll let you know how I like it. Only like $57 on Amazon. Also have Mikes Exam Prep. It's pretty good but needs a little augmenting. If you know the answers to the questions you'd have a good grasp on it. Will be getting a 2008 NEC here pretty quick. WA is going to be on 05 till next fall I think.

Well the Mcgraw book flat out gets two thumbs down from me. It's written in stilted language and is very hard to follow. Reads like some college technical paper instead of a book written to aid electricians. Put it on your do not buy list.

In my opinion, two of the most fundamentally important parts of the NEC are Article 100 - Definitions, and the Index. In the years that I've instructed electrical code, I've found many who do not even know the proper definition of things they're working with, or how to find answers by referring to the index.
Many tests are "open book" and test takers fail because they time out looking in the wrong places within the code.
IMHO, you only need an electrical code book and a good background in understanding what stuff is really called and a running knowledge of how to get through the index. :smile:

Im sorta going after same thing daver828 is,Im a few steps behind him though... Where can I purchase the NEC companion " Hand Book" same places that sell the NEC? ie electical supply house ,also Ive been in mostly the same type of work envirement feel I need to pick-up some more knowledge can anyone suggest some studying material...something off Mike Holts site? (been mostly in a machine shop enviement) Thanx in advance

Mike Holt definitely has some good material. If you want the NEC Handbook, or want to check out some other books, electrical and other, check out this place : http://www.constructionbook.com/electrical/
