I have a switch board which have got two supplies:
- Mains supply 800 KVA from utility company
- 500 Supply from standby Genset
There is Automatic mains failure (AMF). So in case there is a power failure, the generator automatically kick on.
But I have the following problem because my Genset can not take the full load of 800 KVA,
- I am aware that I could add Bus Couplers CB and divide it into essential/priority load and non essential/non priority load. And In case of power failure, the bus coupler will open and generator will only need to supply the Essential load.
However, I do not want to do this as I prefer to do it by controlling the outgoing ways from the switchboards. So, In case there is a power failure, I will open some MCCBs which supply the non essential load. If the mains is restored, the MCCB shall either manually or automatically be closed again. Is that any way to dot this?.
I have heard about put shunt trip, under voltage relay but do not how they work to solve this problem. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
