How to specify a VSD panel??

Guys, can somebody help me on how to specify a VSD Panel? If i were to buy a VSD Panel what are the electrical parameters that i need to present to the supplier for them to provide the right VSD for me?

Start with the motor, nameplate horsepower and amps, application (fan, pump, conveyor, winder, extruder etc). How will it operate, (via local pushbutton or remote controls or both). Input voltage, length of motor leads. Will it be an overhauling load. What are the present conditions where it will be installed, (indoors, outdoors, dirty, etc). Will it require bypass contactors for maintnence or emergency operation.

That should get you started.
 
Contact a few vendors, and ask for their suggested specs. Naturally, they will send you specs that tend to favor their own product. But if you have two or more to review against each other, you can spot the items that are common to all, and sort out the rest as you see fit.
 
On your input will this be controlled with a pressure switch, temperature controller, etc? If so what is the feedback loop going to be? 0-5VDC, 0-20mA, 4-20mA, etc? Make sure the VSD you get can handle the device used to tell itthe motor what speed to run.
 
The motor size is 55kw,460v,3ph,60Hz, used as induction fan. it will operate both local and auto in DCS. The area is outdoor and dirty.
