Most of the power draw is heater. The nameplate on mine at home is 1.1A motor, and 8.1A other loads. Single phase motors are not very efficient. Exterpolating(sp?) from NEC 430.248, 1.1A is about 1/24Hp. Figuring the watts from 1.1A at 120V (100% efficiency), gives 1/6hp. So, a dishwasher with a nameplate of 9.2A, consists of a 1/24Hp motor and 972W of heat. Bear in mind this is a stastical sample of one. Just out of curiousity, where are you headed with this? carl
