I have a skid mounted vacuum machine that has a 40 hp motor and control circiuts. The machine has its own main breaker and starter. They (my work) are wanting this wired up on SO cord with a plug to plug into our weld receptical disconnects. These disconnects are the hubble 60amp 30hp fused disconnects. My question is can i plug into these since they are rated for a max of 30hp. I wasnt sure since they are not going to be the motor controller. Thanks, just want to say this is a great site.

Re: HP rating

Forgott, this is 480 3 phase. The cord is 600v so #6. The disconnect will have 60amp fuses.

Re: HP rating

The horsepower rating is for load disconnecting purposes and is not a continuous current rating.

As long as the plug is only used as a non-load break disconnect it can be used at it's full 60A rating.
