I have a unit with a heat kit strip 41.9/47.4 mca 45/50 mop
My question is what wire size would I need to feed this unit in aluminum?
Normally I use copper but it's too expensive and I heard this new aluminum is not so bad type se
Thank you for your response i will check it out. Ive seen a few times where they run aluminum wire to the disconnect then a whip containing copper to the unit.My suggestion, refer to the manufacturer's Installation Manual that will include more detailed information than just the equipment name plate.
Most HVAC manufacturers don't allow Aluminum.
Thank you. That's what I came up with looking into the code book. Since type se cable go off the 75c degree column. (Only 10 awg smaller goes off the 60c degrees column)#6 Al is good for 50 amps.
Yes if using SE cable you can use the 75° C ampacity. Just out of curiosity what voltage are you applying?Thank you. That's what I came up with looking into the code book. Since type se cable go off the 75c degree column. (Only 10 awg smaller goes off the 60c degrees column)
240v systemYes if using SE cable you can use the 75° C ampacity. Just out of curiosity what voltage are you
So the #6 Al SE cable with a 50 amp OCPD would work.240v system
