Romeo I totally agree with you that the EC would be the one to get red tagged unless, as someone else, as someone else has said, it is required by a building code. It is definitely my responsiblity to make SURE the access is there.

I don't know to many builders who want me to cut the access because if I had too they would be the ones to make it look good. My hammer can do wonders.....:D

I have never had an builder fight me on this... but you are right to red tag the EC---I just don't think it is our responsibility to actually build it.

That is exactly what I am trying to say.I never said the EC was responsible for cutting a access panel in, only that he needs to be sure that it is there,and it is so placed that it provides access to the motor and receptacle.
 
I did two hydro massage bathtubs this year. One I mention it to the installer and it went right over his head and I said something to the HO and didn't seem to care and I let it go but it brothers me. I like to look out for the guy who has to fix it and that might be me. The other job I explained to the HO very carefully and he make the installer make it so that its assessible and I feel better about that.

Spa Bathtub Disconnect

Third party inspectors are writing up our plug and cord disconnect on spa bathtubs with GFCI breaker protection. Am I wrong to think they are wrong? They want an additional 120VAC single pole switch. This is the third house we have been written up for this.

What code article are they citing? Since when isn't a cord and plug permitted as a means of disconnect?
