Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

Jim, if we decided to use 500 mcm conductor, would we have to do a running thermo weld to turn it into a solid conductor or is a NEMA conductor of this size prohibited?

Gentlemen: I took this picture in a house I inspected a few weeks ago:

This is a 1/0 stranded conductor. Are you saying that you would fail it, despite the fact that it is signifigantly better than a number 8 solid?

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

The intent does not allow stranded wire.

Mr.Sargent is wrong. The syntax, of the sentence, is incorrect.

Greogory: I'm not sure I follow you 100%. If you are refering to the funky stuff on the outside of the wire, it is blown-in cellulose insulation. The wire was actually in good shape.

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

Jim, back to my post, is a NEMA conductor beyond a #8 as shown in table 8 prohibited?

Back up please?

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

Has anyone ever seen frayed solid wire?

Has anyone ever seen old stranded battery cables that are frayed from acid decomposing the strands?

Has anyone ever seen old battery cables that do not have frayed strands?

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

OK now i have an altered UL listed motor LOL
Will agree that the coma does support you.
But that is poorly writen.
I fixed it with white out!!!!!!!!!
Why didn't they just say #8 or larger?

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

Does my analogy hold any water?
In 680.26(C) they are very specific about the bond being solid. They are not that specific in 680.74, just that it mustn't be smaller than #8 solid. Different wording for essentially the same procedure, bonding.

Re: Hydromassage Bathtubs

Pete: I agree 100% that they are both the same concept, which is bonding. The language, however, drives the enforcement. It is similiar to the language of 200.6 VS. 250.119 for green and white conductors. Same idea, un-enforcable language.
