Yeah, I imagine it still goes on somewhere. I had one tell me he wasn't beyond taking christmas presents-- that was 10 years ago-- I told him keep dreaming.
brantmacga said:No. The job pays about $24k a year and its hard to find anyone that wants it, so they take what they can get. The chief electrical inspector makes somewhere between $35k-$40k. Considering the average pay for a helper here is $17k, that $24k looks pretty sweet to a lot of young guys.
In the county I live in, the BO makes $40k a year.
dcspector said:My goodness Dennis and Gus.....Yes it is my job! And it is the EC's job to do it per code. If the EC walks with me and we have simple items, fix it while I am there. If a serious issue comes up....Well, we discuss it, and schedule a re inspection.......
Dennis Alwon said:Greg-- That's why I had smiley faces.I was riding you. I know many EC who want to walk thru with the inspector. Personally I am so good that they never find anything wrong. so why waste my time...

dcspector said:Dennis....please come to work in DC and help a brother out... I guess I am too serious all the time....I need to loosen up. I wish my wife would ride me every now and then (regarding the above) so I could get my face outta this NEC, NECH, UL and ASME17.1...
Dennis Alwon said:I may come visit. My daughter just accepted a job in DC. I am sure I will have to help her move. Maybe we can do lunch and have a chuckle or two. If I can't loosen you up then no one can.
but the HO pulled their own permit for the pool so I guess they have a right to know why he thinks I'm wrong.
Dennis Alwon said:I remember those days when I was 16 and working with my dad. He had to pay the inspector $10 or he would not do the inspection the next time you called.True story. NYC was incredibly corrupt back then.
I have never done a walk thru with an inspector. That's his job not mine...![]()
