So, I don't have any ground rods or water pipe grounds, I have 400amp service running in on 6 service wires to two different panels, 3 each, thats it. My power from the pole is buried in to a transformer and meter next to the house. I built a seperate garage and am running a 100 amp service to it. I asked the electrician who did the house what I need, he said 2-2-4. I asked about a ground rod and he said only if I wanted to? He said there is no ground for the house because it's better to go back into the system. my panels in the main service are bonded. I know this is not code but am I going to die and what should I do?

. . . what should I do?
You should get another electrician. That one is telling you something that is not correct, with regard to the requirements for ground rods at your house and at the new building. Will you die? I don't know. Will you get hit by a bus tomorrow, or perhaps win the lottery? I don't know that either. But as Dennis pointed out, members of this web site are not permitted to assist a person who is not a member of the industry.

Even though it closed, I can reply.
1. Find a different electrician
2. Have your orginal electrician sign up for the code forum. He needs a lot of help.
