Stopped by a kitchen remodel today to take care of a few small items before the cabinets went up. I know the HO wanted plywood instead of drywall 'just in case the cabinet crew missed a stud".

I didn't realize how fanatical he was about screws.

If I were to spec' plywood, it would be so the cabinet installers didn't have to hit the studs... but I'd also spec' screws that didn't penetrate the plywood by more than a smidgen on the backside

Ken, I really like your client's idea of sharing information! ! Now. . . if there were just some way to get that mechanical and framing information on the sheet of drywall before the rocker picks up his/er screw gun. . . It'd be a beautiful world.

Wouldn't they normally mud and paint before hanging cabinets? :ashamed1:
Seeing how there is a narrow strip on the far right of the upper photo that is painted, my guess is the rest will be covered with either cabinets or a tile "backsplash" and there is no need to "finish" what will just get covered anyway.

MC cord -- Not if the ground prong is broken off, and downstream of the GFCI shown to left ?

As for OP, good ideas.
Am in mid 70's, wife been at me to expand the 'detail book':
Where every water valve is, each circuit, photos of all (including from 45 years ago when we built the house and have photos of the inside of all walls), list of electric circuits other than just on the panel covers, furnace details, photos of all underground trenches with pipes and wires, etc. Details on furnace and heat pump controls and repair manuals, etc.

Gonna die some day, if one of grandkids wants to live in our house, they will want to know where stuff is.

Neighbor just passed away last year, no one has been able to find the house feed side or shutoff valve for the detached shop water line. aka $200+ water bill when a pipe froze.

My SOP is to photo every wall when I'm done since I'm the last one in before Itchy and Scratchy do their thing. I burn all the images onto a CD and give it to the HO.

When my daughter had her house built, I photographed the rough in. Then I was able to print pictures and tape them to the wall to show the rockers where they covered 5 different boxes.
