Hi I am not an electrician so I need to get some information about GFCI.
I just bought a Coleman Tahiti Inflatable Hot Tub. The gfci cord in the unit is about ten feet from the heating unit to the GFCI cord head.
Sadly this is not long enough to put the hot tub in my yard. I have no plans on using a regular extension cord because of the risks involved. However, I was looking at a 12 gauge GFCI extension cord.
I would like to try the following. Plug the GFCI extension cord into the wall outlet. This wall outlet is also on a GFCI breaker in the house. From there I would like to plug the Heating unit with it's GFCI cord into the GFCI extension cord.
I spoke to an electrician and he said there won't be a safety issue as long as the extension cord is GFCI and can handle the hot tub.
I still have some reservations but I really want to use the hot tub. Not going to try it until I can get some feedback.
Thanks!!!
Brad
