Just trying to learn - saw all this stuff today.

1. The property was next to a substation. Just for my general knowledge, can anyone explain some of the stuff that is going on with the utility pole (4th photo)?

2. Overhead wiring to a large sign (3rd photo) - could not see the top of the sign; however, the wiring method is concerning. Any validation on this concern.

3. First time seeing anything remotely resembling the other 2 photos - signaling lights inserted into a Square B cover - other photo shows how some of the associated wires were connected to the breakers. I'm guessing that there are a host of code issues going on here.

Rules are meant to be broken...or least bent to the max :)
Try uploading them to a free hosting site like:

You can resize the pictures during the upload, just click the "RESIZE" button and select 640x480 for maximum appeal (...well not really, but it makes the image stay within the margins :D )

After the uploading...add the images to your post using the {img} {/img} coding.

From what I could ferret out of the low resolution, when magnified, the first two photos involve #16 or #18 leads that originate from a set of four indicator lights that have been drilled into the circuit breaker panel cover.

The question will concern whether these leads can be terminated in the same lug on the end of the GFCI breakers, along with the branch circuit conductor.

As for the last two photos, that is an unusual pole top detail unlike anything I've ever seen. I'll be curious to learn what's going on, as well.
 
Is there a problem with the fact that the panel cover cannot be completely removed? Any work would involve electricians working - one to hold the panel, etc.

The photo seems to show the cover is capable of being turned upside down and backwards. One worker can simply hang the cover from the bottom two (or one) cover screws. I don't see the need for a second pair of hands. A larger photo would help.
 
As far as the utility pole goes, it looks like wiring to the street lights on on the bottom. It looks like everything else (except the very top) might be cable TV. But I think I also see a conduit running up the pole???

It is possible that the top two wires are just ground sheilds to keep lighting from hitting the cable TV wiring?
