I know it is very difficult to get a good answer to this question but I?m going to ask for Kicks & Giggles. What kind of price would you give for the following:

Basement remodel, all stud, wood, walls engineered beams, panel is in the basement.

Basement divided into 6 rooms or spaces. The finished rooms, 4 are: 13 x 18, 20 x 11, 25 x 18 and 25 x 19.

There are 24 recess lights, 30 duplex Decora receptacles, 7 switches and 3 3ways.

Minimum of three new circuits.

I shot a price of $3,000.00 to $3,500.00.

My response to these numbers, I feel, was not well received.

So, how far off was I?

I am not sure what the prices/ labor runs in your area .
I think that you are low at $3000.00. I come up with $3,600.00 . what about arc fault circuits and smoke detectors ?

are any of these room Bedrooms or be considerd Bedrooms?
You should need at a minimum 1 110v Smoke.
If any circuits require ARC faults then I would add another $60.00 each.

I can only say that only you can determine what you need to charge . If you fell that your price is what you are comfortable with then that is your price.
Do not worry about what the other Guys price is.

I go thru this alot my self and then I move on to the next Job.

Good Luck

You're in the ball park for my neck of the woods. But as mentioned, are arc-faults and smokes a part of the deal?

Don't feel bad if your price isn't 'too well received.' There's certain people out there who would think $500 would be to high for the job. If you find you're 'too high' more often than not, then you are probably just that. But if you're getting every job you bid on, you're probably too low. But don't expect to get every job you bid on, especially on price alone. There may be some trunk-slammer who's bid on this as well, and he's willing to work for peanuts because he's, well, just plain hungry.

In our area if we tried to do a job like that for $3,500 we would end up taking a good loss.

You should be glad you din't get it.

A lot of basement jobs, are done by HO's or Handy Dandy type people, who have little or no electrical knowladge, they will price it for beer money.

For my area, those numbers are not even close.

I come in at $7501.30.

The lighting alone is almost 4k.

Satcom....1793 is in Kentucky. The rate in Ky is about 1/2 - 1/3 what we gotta charge up here in NJ :)

Would any of you be willing to "show your work" as to how you reached your numbers?

24 recessed fixtures really doesn't give a lot of information.

First off. Who is to provide these fixtures.
Second. Is there a lay out for the fixtures.
Third. If the fixture are to be provided by EC. Then we need type of fixture, type baffel & trim and type of lamp.
Forth. Is the ceiling sheet rock or drop.

I would get this information before giving a price on the fixtures.

As some of you know, my handy-dandy Excel spreadsheet is only 2 key-strokes away!

So without further ado......
