I want to use a Thomas & Betts sealing ring on top of a communications box. this box

I want to use a Thomas & Betts sealing ring "on top", not the side noer bottom. The box is a communication box which leads to the new meter for a solar install. The sealing ring is UL listed and watertight, not waterproof. Is this acceptable as a top mount.. I am using a myers hub ontop of my trauff, which leads to my inverters. I don't need a hub on the top of my communicaton box also, true/false
