Need some advice on the current Electrical Inspectors test
Give out by Prometric I will be taking the test next month,
Not my first choice of test but since i moved to Pa from New york
not many choices
I am lead to believe that this test is based on IAEI textbook as well as the 2005 nec
Problem is the the IAEI text book is full of errors that contradicts itself & the Nec
I had found many, and will find more when my One and Two-Family Electrical Dwelling Systems, 2008 NEC arrives on Friday
Here is an example of one:
Book:One and two family dwelling electrical systems 6 th edition
Question 24 chapter 4
Grounding electrode conductors are NOT permitted to be spliced.
True or False?
Answer given: True Nec 250.64 (C)
NEC 2005:
(C) Continuous Grounding electrode conductor(s) shall be installed in one continuous
length without a splice or joint except as permitted in (1) through (4):
(1) Splicing shall be permitted only by irreversible compression-type connectors
listed as grounding and bonding equipment or by the exothermic welding process.
(2), .......
Sounds like a splice to me.
Now if you were to answer this question like i did saying false ( as to Nec) to the question your wrong according to IAEI book.
Is there anyone who has taking Prometics test ?
Should i toss IAEI book to the trash and stick to the nec as i know it and fight any question i know is wrong?
Thanks ShockaRe
ps i wanna play both sides to the fence here in Pa.
