I had considered taking the IAEI/NFPA inspector certification exam, but it appears that the state of Florida only recognizes ICC certification. I have heard that they are similar exams in nature and in content.

I also took this exam around the first of April. The way I understood it,they did not have enough people that had taken the test as of yet to develop the grading curve. I have yet to hear anything from them.

Here is the quote out of the exam handbook about the "curve". "The methodology used to set the minimum passing score is the Angoff method, in which expert judges estimate the passing probability of each item on the examination. These ratings are averaged to determine the minimum passing score (i.e., the number of correctly answered items required to pass the examination)." Evidently they feel as though not enough people have taken the test to establish this. Sorry about the late reply..

This is the same way the PE test is done. It is actually a good thing. If everybody that took the test missed question number 28, the proctors and writers of the test will probably re-examine the question for validity and have it thrown out.

Washington State uses Laser Grade for its electrical exams, you get the results when you finish the test. The test is taken on a computer, you make an appointment at one of the Laser Grade locations all across the state.

Has anyone at all received their scores back on this test? I took the Masters test today and in the candidate information booklet it said that you would receive a score report after finishing the test but when I finished all I received was a letter telling me I would get a score report mailed within 12 weeks. The NFPA and IAEI will be getting a phone call.

I sent the NFPA an e-mail a couple of weeks ago and here is the reply I got back.
Hi Mr. Cross:
Thank you for your email. The exam "pass/did not pass" status notice has
been delayed. We apologize for this inconvenience. As soon as we are able
to offer your status results, we will contact you. We hope it won't be much
longer. Thank you for your patience.

The deadline to take the exams was August 1..., so NFPA/IAEI decided to extend the time frame, this is very misleading and unprofessional . Just because the fee to take the exam was reduced from $250. to $50. is no reason to lie to the participants by keeping them waiting for a test result.

The latest from the NFPA is when they finally get 100 people to take the exam they can then establish the grading curve for this exam. They are looking at sometime around November or December 2004 time frame before any results are released. Hang on.....

Has anybody done the transfer option for this cert???
I did, started in March and sent in the forms in Aug and received the cert in Oct.
The dept I work for is going through the ISO 9001:2000 and it will now recognize the NFPA certs. Just another feather in the hat!
