ICC Journeyman exam

Hi my Name is Jon and I am preparing for ICC exam for state of Texas I already went and got score 68 and would like share some of the questions I had problem with one of them was about the Definitions on FLA or full loads current and what I could choose from was something like
a)short circuit current
b)rotor....
c)Motor running current
d).....
My answer was c the nec book talk about motors running at base speed???
I am confused

Without seeing the complete text of the question and answers (B) and (D), I cannot be certain. But I would tend to agree with your answer (C).

Where, and in what NEC book, did you see the phrase ?base speed??

Hi and thanks a lot for your response
After looking again and again in the code book I found the base speed above the table 430.147 in 2002 code book say 'The following values of full load current are for motors running at base speed' There are few other questions I am confused over I would like to post them as well.

One of the question I had problem with and I have hard time to find it in the code book is
When can no 14 awg wire been used for 20 amps circuit.
a)the load is not more than 10 amps
b)the conductor are not longer than 18 inches
c)
d)
I member my answer was b but that was gess I have been trying to find it in the code book but so far no luck.

I don't like either of the answers you gave. Take a look at 240.4(D) and see if that gets you anywhere.

I have been looking at the 240 4 D but I do not find any solid answer maby the answer was c or d but I do not member what that was but I am going to continue looking

Notice that 240.4(D) says "unless specifically permitted in 240.4(E)or(G)"...perhaps your answer is in E or G for taps or specific applications?

The rating of any circuit, such as your ?20 amp circuit,? is based on the rating of overcurrent protection, not on the size of the wires. 240.4(D) tells us that you can never use a #14 on a 20 amp circuit, unless you meet one of the conditions of 240.4(E) through (G). I have not traced through those exceptions, but you are welcome to try.

Thanks lot for your response and i do not find that I can use no 14 for 20 amp circuit.

another question I have problem with its following
Tap existing servicce to new location
1 spesal premission
2 use approwed material for connection
a)only 1
b)only 2
c)bothe 1 and 2
d)neither 1 or 2

My answer was b after reading 230 46 114 14 300 5 E 300 13 300 15 I am sure about no 2 but my feeling is I need specal premission to but I do not find any thing to suport that any idea.
