I am studying to take the Master Electricians exam from ICC. I was wondering if any of you had any tips on what I should concentrate on in my studies. The ICC website is fairly vague.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: ICC Master Electricians Test

Hello,

I just took the computerized version of the masters test last thursday. Know your calculations inside and out. I was pretty adept at finding stuff quickly in the code and it still stressed me to find or confirm all of the questions within the alotted 5 hours. If you are using the Mike Holt exam (I highly recommend it)prep manual take the time to go through the entire book. Every question. I am the third one of our group to attack the test in this manner and all three of us have passed. The questions cover every aspect just as the prep book does. It is spread out to much to tell you to concentrate in one area. Also take the practice exam offered as a pdf download from the website after you have completed the book. It gave me a confidence boost going into the test.

I totally agree with bptjr71. I used the practice exams for the ICC test but for the State Contractors test and passed this first time. I studied for a whole year. I would take the practice test then studied my weak areas. Then retook the practice exam until I was well prepared. Remember you can't be over prepared. I also read this site daily. These folks are pretty smart.

on the icc it would be good if they give a score. I would like to kwow whether I made 75 or 95,..... not just pass.

I agree it would be nice to know your score. I can't remember where or when but I was told that the exams do not provide grading as it would stimulate competion within individual companies and could have salary implications tied to the scores.
