Yeah I'm in the middle of it. The whole perimeter around the development I live in is lite up like Manhattan. But the development is pitch black - and the odd thing is that one of the main PSNH offices sites about 1/2 mile from my house.

Was supposed to work a commercial job today doing some service work, but the plant's power was off. Quite a few houses with their SE cable laying in the driveway, but some of the power is still on. Never seen so much ice damage. I was here for the nasty ice storm in 1998, and we were without power for 2.5 days. Everyone (except me) went out and bought a generator - then didn't need it for almost 10 years.

Wish I had one today. If it's not on by tomorrow, I'm picking one up - as I have a friend at a local supply that called me tonight and made me aware they have a shipment coming in tomorrow morning from out of state.

House is at 56 right now, and we're staying with friends for the evening. They say some homes won't have power restored until Wednesday/Thursday.

I live a good hour away from the nearest ice storm damage (all we got was rain here) and I saw two generators go out the door at HD this afternoon in the span of 10 minutes.

Best move I make every fall is to stock up on 100- and 200-a meter sockets, hubs, 1" and 2" EMT & rigid, fittings, weatherheads, straps and #2 and 2/0. Those things get pretty scarce after a storm.

Really nice to get a phone call, and go out and have the material on the truck to rebuild a service from the socket on up. Paid when done. KaChing! Everyone else is sitting, waiting for the supply house and the Big ORange/Blue to get a shipment.

ok. i don't feel so bad about the brush fires here two weeks ago.
thanks for posting.:D

it's pretty cold here too..... i just checked, and it's in the sixties,
but the sun has gone down, and that may have something to do
with it.

y'all strap on crampons, or whatever you do to be able to walk on
glare ice, and be careful now, y'hear?

I bet you'll be busy rebuilding services in the next few days though.

Not really, I'm working up north next to mass and new york, had to drive through some really messed up towns, but my local area was in pretty good shape, its all in the elevation. It was amazing to drive only one mile down the road and leave a total ice covered area to see no ice at all.

Well we've not had the ice up here, it's just cold as heck. (WAYYYY below average)

I did about 8 hours of pole work today and it felt like about -5?C. Sunday it's supposed to hit -22?C (about -8?F) Apparently there were 4-6 hour lineups at the tire shops.

I *LOVE* my new work boots though. Viberg Stompers 0648. Toasty like you wouldn't believe.
