Can an isolated ground be spliced or does it have to be continuous even if the splices would be of permanent nature?

There are no special rules for the splicing an IG. Splice it as many times as you want with any of the normal methods.

Sure, you can splice it as many times as you want. Nothing other than job specs perhaps that would forbid it.

An isolated ground is permitted to be spliced.

Maybe you are thinking of a grounding electrode conductor. 250.64(C) requires that the GEC be continious with out splice unless you use an irreversible splice or a section of busbar.

Of course .... you used the fewest characters.

Here was my thought process upon reading the question:

"Of course you can.... now, is there a Code section I can quote? Hmmm... I bet there isn't anything in the IG sections that explicitely says you can splice them.... but I know there isn't anything that says you can't.... so the general rules for conductors apply... therefore, the answer is They may be spliced".

I must have thought all that real quick to have beat the rest of you.
