In wall octagon box to exterior raceway options?

Is there a good and legal way to go from an in wall octagon box to conduit. Some sort of weatherproof cover that would seal against the side of the building with a knock out to then change over to a raceway to run on the outside of the building?

Might you have a link? When I google mulberry box I come up with the typical “bell” boxes.

That is my concern but was hoping someone might know of something or some method to accomplish my task.

If the octagon box is fed by MC cable it might have enough slack to remove the octagon box and come in the back of a weatherproof box. Might have to chip some concrete.

You are right that it would be hard to find a code compliant way to transition but most you will find in the field probably aren't all that legal.

Why won't a Bell box extension work. It should not matter what type of round box is in the wall. The extension bell box has 4/0 and 3/0 screw holes and a gasket.

It would be easy to use a round FS box mounted right over the octagon box with the conductors pulled through the 1/2" threaded entry in the back. :thumbsup:

Sure it will work and I would use one in a minute. Is it perfectly legal? Is it listed for that use? Is that octagon box perfectly flush with wall?

I would stick it up there and caulk as needed and doubt anyone would ever question it.

A "weatherproof cover", no . . . but as 480 and Sierra are showing, a round bell box extension will work.

In my opinion, the cover would be blocked by the raceway that extends over the cover to the knockout holding the raceway connector. Having the raceway entries through the wall of the bell box, separate from the bell box cover, side steps that blockage.

Well then, chip or cut out slot in exterior finish, pipe it, and repair finish would work.

Fugly, but doable.

The octagon box in question is mounted flush with building finish which happens to be corrugated metal. (It is a manufactured building). My main concern with doing an extension is the metal wall is not cutout very close to the octagon box....which would leave an area to large to caulk.

If it is a messy cut out for the original fixture opening so be it. You can fix that with a new piece of siding placed over the old and caulk to that.

I think you are overthinking this.
I do the same all the time. Wish I had someone to tell me a simpler way when out in the field.
