increasing terminal capacity of transformer

A few thoughts:

1- The transformer came with the lugs from the factory as seen so any contact issues would be with their design not the end user.

2- A Bob said support is probably not required because the manufacturer made no provisions for any and including nothing in their literature requiring any.

3- I've seen many transformers lately where the conductor entry is at the top, this is their design not the installers. In this case there would absolutely no other way to wire the transformer without a top entry. But as Pierre mentioned there are some manufacturer's that have stipulations about wiring above a certain point within the wiring compartment. For some reason this manufacturer does not.

4- One comment on posting photo's, the intention was to show that there are methods to achieve what was asked for in the OP. Offset lugs are a great example, hence the photo's depicting what they would look like, (after all a picture's worth a thousand words). And thanks for the kind comments, there is a certain amount of pride that goes into doing work like this and positive reinforcement is always welcome. ;)

It is Black, Red, Blue... when looking at them from the primary-connection side of the transformer. From that perspective, the primary connections are also in the desired left-to-right order: Brown, Orange, Yellow.

Yup, those photo's are of the back of the transformer. ;)
 
Looks good. I don't think I have ever seen a colored wire above #4.

Being from Alaska, I'm used to getting "bottom of the barrel wire". However a couple of years ago while working at City center in Las Vegas, ran into colored large wire. I asked about the clored 750's coming in, all paralleled, said Southwire didn't charge anymore for colored than black. Nice labor savings to...not hard to see that all the conductors go to the correct bus!
