I have found a Monsanto MV-50 LED from the late 1960s. I can see output at about 0.3 MA and about 1.4 V. I did not get out a good meter and I only used the meter on a HP power supply. However, these are good ball park figures, and sufficient to illustrate the state of the art at that time.

Gar,
I have used 5K Ohm (draws aprox. 40mA) in parallel
to draw down phantom voltage, prior to igniting the LED's.

Correction,
120V and 5K ohms would pass 24mA.
My Wiggy is aprox. 3K and it passes aprox. 40mA.
I have 10K across a three prong circuit testor to draw down phantom voltage.

Thanks for the numbers, Gar.
Using equations as a descriptive method
does make things clearer (logically) and more predictable.
That is the purpose of 'Math' anyway.
