Anyone have information on these transformers? We have a "ALPHA" box mounted on a pole being fed by breaker disconnect. From what I have read this is a step down transformer. Anyone here install these, what are the requirements?

Those are power supplies that provide 60 or 90VAC. They can be had as straight step down transformers or with battery backup much like a UPS.

When I worked for a cable company we would mount them on the pole and connect them to our system. Then they had a local EC (who had a bucket truck) go around and connect the power for them and handle the POCO filing and paperwork. Usually 120V/20A off the secondaries through a fuseable disconnect.

The weather proof hub on the disconnect that feeds this transformer is broken, I've been tasked with getting this repaired. This transformer is on a military installation. I work for facilities maintenance; typically we only provide power to the disconnect. I'm in the process of figuring out who is responsible for the repairs. Thanks for the info!

If I remember correctly he just used a piece of 12/2 UF and stapled it up the pole, stripped the end and bugged to the neutral and one phase. So a UF weatherproof connector into the disconnect.

This particular service has PVC conduit and weather head, appears to be #8AWG, load side is protected by single pole 20A breaker.
