Inground Pool Pumps

Do the requirements of 110.26 (A) or 110.34 (A) for working clearances apply to the pool pump itself. I can justify the panel or control/timer box meeting these requirements, but not the actual pump motor. Thoughts?

Strict interpretation of those sections would result in a code required kitchen countertop receptacle being in violation so there is precedent for some leeway.

w/o looking at those sections, tell me how much clearance there is on a packaged spa pump motor, then get back to me.
