Thanks again for all of your input. I am definitely on the same page as you all. I am still on the fence whether I will take this job, but if I decide to go for it, I will demand cash and cash only and a lot of it. I will also speak to the AHJ before I even get into my truck to head over to the job to get an even better idea of what is going on.

Good plan!

Whatever you decide to do, remember this: We ain't you.

No matter what we say, imply, infer, allude to, etc; ultimately it is you that will be responsible ;).

I think you'll do fine.

In our jurisdiction an electrician can take over anothers job. We need a letter from the home owner letting us know that the original contractor is no longer on the job and then the new electrician must pull a new permit (no refund on the original permit). If the homeowner is the one who pulled the permit we don't really care who does the work.

one last round of thanks to all that contributed. I completed the inspection today everything looked good except one or two very minor things that I corrected. I also talked the home owner into pulling a permit and calling for an inspection from the AHJ for the work that was already completed (by another contractor) which should lessen the liability for my inspection. Definitely the easiest money I have ever made. Paid in full, paid in cash. Thanks again all.
