I have been an Inspector for several years and I am embarrased to say I have never Inspected a Fire Pump. What should I be looking for as far as the Electrical aspects?

Thanks for the help

Oh, and I would be very careful to look at how the contractor has fed power to the pump controller. The feeder must stay "outside" of the building until it reaches the controller (695.6(A)). If that is not possible, then it must meet 230.6(1) or (2). Many times, we see MI cable used for this purpose. Wierd stuff that MI cable. First time we used it, the job foreman called me and asked why we had recieved copper tubing on the job. He almost refused the shipment until I told him what it was!!!

The source of power and the location of the fire pump service is very important. Also look at article 700.12 (D)
