Florida abolished all local codes in March 2002. We have been asking for uniform and consistant codes for decades and finally somebody heard. Any additional ordinances to the NEC have to be researched thoroughly, submitted to the state board for approval, and enacted statewide! Of course you're still going to have the good ol' boys to deal with and you always run the risk of making an enemy if you disagree with them too much.

A local code can be granted to an individual jurisdiction if it can be determined that a special circumstance exists for that particular area. However, the local code automatically becomes a proposal at the next code cycle or glitch amendment period. At that time, that local code could become a statewide requirement. (Sort-of like a TIA)

My particular jurisdiction has no local codes...

In Baton Rouge, 8 switches or receptacles on a 15 and 20 amp circuit.
No more than four outlets on the SABC's.
I have argued with the head electrical inspector on this. He told me Louisiana goes solely on the code, no local amendments.

It is okay to run romex in a slab on grade in PVC, though:roll:
It's okay to not staple romex within 12" of a panel.
It's okay to mount the doorbell transformer in a two-gang box behind the chime.
It's okay to have four rows of romex running down a 2x4.
Have to have a ground wire in conduit, it's code!
