I already stated that the words don't support me. Stickboy was asking about the 12".

You would not do good as an inspector.First red tag you write the EC says i need code number to support this. Now what ?We use whats writen as is not what it should say.

Realistically, unless you have a house full of guests, and everyone's trying to get ready to go someplace at the same time, it might never get used. I mostly observe people using them for a decorative night light or a Glade Plug-In.

Have you ever had one of these combo inspectors try to make you put a receptacle in a non-dwelling bathroom? I went for a round with a guy over that not too long ago. He didn't have an NEC with him, and of all the days, neither did I, so it got a little bit drug out.

No code book ? Get out of my building now and return when your ready to talk code.

In the end, it doesn't hurt a thing, unless you strain something pounding in the rod. I don't know about CT in particular, but I think that most of the northeast is one gigantic ledge rock. Ground rods are not exactly high up on the list of fun things to do.

Noticed in a "guardian-generac" instruction book today that they required a ground rod connected to the case, so, 110.3, I guess.

First off, let me say I agree that the receptacle for this pedestal lav can be located anywhere within the 3 foot arc shown in the Mike Holt depiction.

I just have this mental image of someone with an electric shaver that comes with a 2-footlong appliance cord trying to shave with it plugged into a receptacle 12" off the floor. :D He's going to be looking into the sink, not the mirror. Or, just go get a leadcord for the bathroom. That wouldn't increase the potential for hazard, right? :-?

can anybody tell me what this thread is supposed to accomplish, its obvious the inspector is wrong,

Other than your average friday night chit-chat, not much. Sorry, I didnt know the threads were actually suppose to accomplish something.

have you ever seen a thread on this site that has inspector in the title that does not go completely off the subject and turns into inspector bashing, like i thought this post accomplished nothing

I didnt read any inspector bashing in this thread, just threw my days adventures out into the open. You can surly post your adventures as well, I'm sure you see some good stuff.

And I'm sure someone learned something, like installing a receptacle in a closet is legal, and the required bath room receptacle is legal within 3' of a basin.

i am just giving you a hard time, I know inspectors like you dealt with are very aggravating and can cost contractors money, I have been wrong many times but if I am wrong I have no problem admitting it, as long as you learn something you are going in the right direction

Did a walk-through for a rough inspection today, Inspector asked where the receptacle was for the bathroom basin, (pedestal sink being installed) I point down about a foot off the floor, and he just looks at me and asks why I put it down there, I told him thats where the owner wants it. Kind of looked at me puzzled and I asked him if I should go get my code book or not? I swear he wanted me to move it...

Then we head upstairs and enter the master bedroom closet, and asks why I put a receptacle in the closet, again I reply because the HO wanted it, so I ask whats the problem, He said it should not be in a closet, but since its a walk-in closet its okay he says...:-?

There was more to the discussion, but you get the point...

I understand that an inspector should have a good to better grip on the NEC and what other references the jurisdiction is enforcing....but, there are times when maybe he/she does not. If by chance you as the installer do, it really would not hurt for you to try and help this person out. We all make mistakes.
Stickboy
I believe your mistake on this thread is making fun of someone else without them being here to rebut your claim.

Where did I make fun of someone?

When did he make fun of anybody? I haven't seen him do that yet on this thread.

Don't take it personnally.

I agree with your stance of discussing things with inspectors, the way things should be, but......we're not there yet, as proffesionals or as a society.

That's the point.
