From my interpretation of article 392.9(A)(1) and 392.11 it suggest that I can install 8No. 4 1/2 core x 500 kcmil (each of 2.5" OD) in a single layer on a 24" ladder tray without a 1 OD spacing between them (i.e. the cables are touching).
Assuming the neutral is not a current carrying conductor the ampacity of each cable is give in table 310.16 as 380A (75 degree termination and amb. temp of 30 degree C). The total ampacity of the cables would be 3040A.
Is my interpretation correct? Or do I have to space them one diameter apart to use the table 310.16?
