Installing ceiling fan with 14/2 & 14/3

Gentlemen,

I am only in school for electrical so I am a novice. I just bought a house where the fan i took out has both 14/2 and 14/3 wire from one single pole switch. The fan would be on constantly and the switch would only work the light. How do I make the right connection?
