How about the siding block w/box built in? Arlington makes it about 7.50each. They also make for 1/2lap 5/8 lap siding as well.

Tom

Looks like a good box, but most of the fixtures I install are way to big for that amount of surface. I'll have to keep an eye out for larger ones. In the mean time, these have become my new best friend for outside recept.

They are a little time consuming to install, but what a great finish. Enough depth with no cheap, ugly, leaking "bubble" cover. (Can you tell I don't like the "bubble" covers??

What is code on that? It has been a while since I had to look, but if I remember, there is no set distance a light is supposed to be from a required location. I think NEC has changed twice since this has been an issue with me, so forgive my ignorance. This post brought it back to memory.

NEC Article 210.70(2)(b) and the Exception. I'll stick a motion detector fixture in there if she can't find a matching recessed soffit fixture.

By the way. I usually use fiberglass re-work box because of no wings and the ears,

Who makes that box?

I'll get back to you. Can't think of it right now. I want to say Arlington, but I feel that it is wrong. Same that make the fiberglass pancake and nail-on boxes.

Found it.

Be careful to make sure the old work round is rated for a fixture. I like the Arlington house block box myself . I know this is a side wall application I just thought it was worth mentioning that not all round old works can be used for fixture support.

This is from carlon ;
What is the weight limit for your old work round box #B618R if you are
hanging a light fixture from the ceiling.

The B618R is a round old work outlet box and is not listed for fixture support in
the ceiling. Only approved ceiling boxes are allowed to support fixtures in the
ceiling. These boxes will be permitted to support a minimum weight of 50
pounds. The B618R can be used in the ceiling as a junction box. Do not hang a
fixture from it since it relies on the strength of the ceiling itself.

How do you guys get a 4" round (blue cut-in) in a 4" hole?
I've got a 4 1/8" saw, and the fit is perfect.
Just curious.
