Sorry in advance for the small novel. I installed an above ground pool a few years ago. I did all the wiring myself. I am a licensed Building Operator with the City of Chicago, so I know some electrical code, but not all the nuances for pools. Luckily my inspector at the time told me everything I needed to do to be compliant, and I passed inspection with no problems. I am now installing a heat pump for the pool and, sadly, the inspector from a few years ago has retired and I have a couple questions. The heat pump I am installing uses 30 amps and needs 10 gauge wire. All the other equipment uses 12 gauge. Given that, I ran a 10 gauge ground wire to the heat pump rather than use the existing 12 gauge from the filter pump. The inspector had me tie in the bonding wire to ground at the outlet for the filter pump. I know I need to bond the metal casing of the heat pump. My question is this: Do I need to tie in the ground for the heat pump to the bond? Or is it enough to just have the casing bonded? Does is matter if I do both just to be safe? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Pools are very dangerouse in regards to the electrical, and especially with bonding. With that said...........
